Göteborg Art Scene gains attention in New York

Seems that the contemporary art scene in Göteborg, Sweden is gaining momentum in the Big Apple. While Galleri Box on Kastellgatan is a newcomer to be included in the New Museums Art Spaces Directory and former Valand Dean Leslie Johnson has a solo show opening next week at Gallery Forever & Today Future on Manhattan’s Division Street, it’s not the first time that Margareta Orreblads Galleri Mors Mössa  in Haga, has been recommended by The New York Times but this year she has been awarded with a fancy sticker as proof of her listing in The New York Times, 36 Hours: 125 Weekeds in Europe – Taschen book.

Currently on view at the gallery is Austrian born, Stockholm based sculptor Eva Beierheimer who has transformed the measurements of the gallery space into abstract sculptures that interestingly oscillates between inviting and excluding the interaction with the viewer. The exhibition is up until  September 16th, 2012.
